On June 28th, the Nevsun sponsored Premier Pool League (NPPL) VIP Community organized a charity event to support Kudakwashe Children's Home in Stoneridge, Harare. The aim of the NPPL VIP Community, led by Mr. Alois Madhekeni and Ms. Penelope Moerblessing Moyo (aka Pinky Bellashine) is to give back to the community through sports, with a focus on charity, anti-drug and substance awareness campaigns, and community development.

The event aimed to raise funds and collect essential items for Kudakwashe Children's Home, which provides care and support to 36 children between the ages of 2 and 19, including 20 with disabilities and four who are deaf and dumb. The home, owned by Racheal Ziki, faces numerous challenges, including school fees, transportation, borehole installation, toiletries, food, and stationery.

The event featured a powerful poem performance by Dzamudzamu and Umfazi Onsundu, highlighting the importance of supporting vulnerable children. CB Muchero Innovation Hub volunteered to groom and nurture kids in computer literacy, while Sir Farai and BlackBoss provided photography and media services. Rumbi from Cake Zone donated delicious cakes, and Abel, a journalist, helped publicize the event.

Bellashine, an event planner and fundraiser with a passion for helping the less privileged, played a crucial role in planning and fundraising for the event. The NPPL executive members, including Chairman Mr. Benjamin Funani, Vice Chairman Mr. Para Chigogora, Treasurer Mr. Witness Bushu and Secretary General Mr. Laston Manene provided valuable support and guidance.

The event raised $253, R100, and collected five bags of preloved clothes, groceries, stationery, and toiletries. Additionally, Mr. Benadict Kamudzandu donated shoes and clothes, and Rumbidzai Mkandawire from Cakezone pledged to make a cake for the kids on the 7th anniversary of Kudakwashe Children's Home's establishment.

Kudakwashe Children's Home has a team of three qualified professionals, including Mr. Chimoto, Dr. Mapondera, and Dr. Rachel, who provide care and support to the children. The home faces numerous challenges, including school fees, transportation, borehole installation, toiletries, food, and stationery.

The NPPL VIP Community's charity event aimed to address some of these challenges and promote a positive image of pool as a sport that cares for the community.

The coordinator Mis Bellashine said "Their next event will focus on anti-drug and substance abuse awareness."

The community appeals for support towards Kudakwashe Children's Home and their future initiatives.

The event's success demonstrates the power of collaboration and giving back. The NPPL VIP member's efforts will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of the children at Kudakwashe Children's Home.
